Thank you for your understanding.
It is with great sadness that we express our deepest sympathies for the passing of Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II and our thoughts and condolences go to her family at this very difficult time. Her dedication to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and to her other realms and territories is unparalleled and we thank her for her service.
St Matthias will observe the mourning period but continue to support our pupils, families and staff. Unless otherwise stated, please assume scheduled activities and events we have planned will continue, along with remembering Her Majesty the Queen and exploring her work and life in our classes in an age appropriate way. We will observe the national holiday for Her Majesty’s funeral when the date is released, which means school will be closed that day, but outside of this, school hours will continue as normal.
We have more outside achievements to celebrate this week.
Every Friday we hold a ‘Celebration Worship’ to give out awards to our children to celebrate their achievements.
This week we had some important visitors at St Matthias to complete an external review of the progress that St Matthias is making, even through a pandemic.

Thank you to everyone who has donated a Christmas decoration for our Christmas trees outside the main entrance to school and the Early Years area.
Mrs Hall
We are going to say a sad goodbye, good luck and a huge thank you to Mrs Hall as she will be leaving St Matthias at Christmas.
You may be aware of the programme we have in school called ‘Century’ where children log on to their own account and complete homework and assignments (also known as Nuggets) set by their teachers.
I meet with our Education Welfare Office fortnightly at St Matthias. We review our whole school attendance and any individual attendance which has fallen below 90%, which is known as Persistent Absence.
During the rest of this term current class teachers will be assessing the children, completing the teaching and learning and writing their school reports ready to hand to you in July.
We have had a number of children upset this week over the use of ‘Snapchat’ and other communication apps.
